YMCA of the Capital Area
Welcome to the Y!
We’re an inclusive organization of men, women, and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy lives and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Today’s Ys serve thousands of U.S. communities, uniting 21 million children and adults of all ages, races, faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels .
Our Cause Defines Us
At the Y, strengthening the community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors, regardless of age, income or background, to make sure everyone can grow and thrive.
Our Impact is Felt Everyday
At the Y, we build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all through our mission to put Christian principles into practice. Our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, a mentor inspires a child and the community joins together for a common good.
Opportunities for All
At the Y, everyone is welcome. We enable kids to realized their potential, prepare teens for college, enable families to have fun together, empower people to live healthier, prepare people for employment, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster a nationwide service ethic.
Our Areas of Focus
At the Y, we are a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. We become a strong community by investing in our kids, our health and our neighbors.
