Membership
The YMCA of the Capital Area is a membership organization open to all people. The YMCA welcomes women and men, girls and boys of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, abilities and financial circumstances. Programs and branches embrace diversity, reflecting the needs and composition of the communities they serve. Your citywide membership is good at all eight Capital Area YMCA locations.

Membership Payments
At the Y, you have options! The Y accepts the following methods of payment for Y membership: monthly bank draft, monthly credit card draft, six month memberships paid in advance and one year memberships paid in advance. The Y does not require that you sign a contract, you can cancel your membership at anytime, please give the Y a 30 day notice when canceling your membership.
Membership Definitions
Adult - any person 18 years or older

Household - any adults or children who reside in the same house.
Verification in the form of ID, lease statement, etc. is required for all adults. This membership includes 2 adults and 4 children, additional household members may join at a charge of $10.00(per month) for additional adults and $5.00 (per month) for additional children.
Student - any person enrolled in university/technical college full-time. Defined as at least 12 hours for undergraduate and 9 for graduate students
Senior - any person 65 years or older.
Senior Household - any person 65 years or older.
Open to seniors age 65 and up living at the same address. The second senior on the membership must be at least 63 years old to qualify for this rate. Up to two additional adults can be added to the membership ($10.00 each) with proof of residency at the same address. Up to four additional children can be added to the membership ($5.00 each) with proof of residency at the same address.
Youth - any child ages 3-17.
Corporate - must provide proof of current corporate employment. (current pay check stub) *Corporate members will receive a $10 joining fee only at the time of the initial joining. The offer cannot be applied to rejoining corporate members*
State - must provide proof of current state employment (current pay check stub)
People's Health Members are eligible to receive a free full membership with a valid health card showing name and policy number. To receive the membership, please call 225-346-5705 and ask to be put on the fitness plan throught the YMCA of the Capital Area. After you have been placed on the fitness plan, please come in with your photo ID and People's Health Card.
"Golden" (GO) member are eligible to receive either the Corporate/Corporate Family rate (if member is under age 65) or Senior/Senior Household (if member is age 65 or older). GO members also enjoy NO joining fee.
Guest Policy
YMCA Facilities are provided for the use of YMCA members. We welcome individuals requesting information about prospective membership. They will be given a guided tour and printed material An individual not expressing interest in joining may still accompany a member into the facility by payment of a guest fee.
Members are always invited to bring in friends and encourage them to join. YMCA members are limited to one guest per member visit. Guest privileges are provided at the YMCA by purchasing a guest pass for $10. Each guest is limited to three visits in a 12 month period. Guests must be 18 years of age and older, are required to present a valid photo I.D and must be accompanied by a YMCA member.
Please note that the YMCA reserves the right to limit or deny guest pass privileges at any time. Also note that members are responsible for their guest's actions. Guest passes are not replaceable if lost or stolen.
Daily guest pass fees are $10 per person and limited to three per person, per 12 month period.
